Kalita is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science at Gauhati University, Guwahati, Assam. He completed his MCA from Assam Engineering College and PhD from Gauhati University and has extensive teaching, research, and academic administration experience spanning more than two decades. His academic career includes service at Handique Girls’ College, Gauhati University Kokrajhar Campus, KKHSOU, and the Department of Computer Science, Gauhati University.&lt;/p>
&lt;p>His research interests include Speech Processing, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Medical Image Processing, Hyperspectral Image Analysis, Pattern Recognition, and Artificial Intelligence. He has supervised numerous PhD scholars and research projects in interdisciplinary domains involving healthcare AI, speech technologies, image analysis, remote sensing, and intelligent systems.&lt;/p>
&lt;p>Dr. Kalita has published extensively in reputed journals, conferences, and book chapters. His recent research contributions include medicinal plant identification, Alzheimer&amp;rsquo;s disease detection using MRI, microscopy image enhancement, hyperspectral image classification, handwritten character recognition, and speech recognition systems for Assamese and other regional languages.&lt;/p>
&lt;p>He is currently leading multiple funded research projects including ISRO-RAC-S sponsored work on Change Detection and Change Captioning, and NIHE-sponsored research on real-world medicinal plant identification using AI-driven mobile applications. His work focuses on developing intelligent systems that combine deep learning, computer vision, speech technologies, and geospatial analytics for real-world societal applications.&lt;/p></description></item></channel></rss>
